Steeped in the history of the Ottoman
Empire, infused with the trade of the spice route to Asia,
Turkish cuisine is a fusion of flavours, textures and colours as
diverse as the country itself - from the historic centre of Anatolia to
the Mediterranean and Black Sea coasts.Our aim is to serve authentic food in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
The cooking methods and basic ingredients of bread, olives, fresh meat and vegetables have changed little over the centuries.
Though Turkey is not renowned for the drinking of alcohol, there is a rich tradition of beer and wine making. Drinking in the company of family and friends in taverns and restaurant is an integral part of special occasions. Similar to Spanish Tapas, Meze is the general category of dishes brought to the table in small quantities at the start of a meal. These are eaten along with wine, or more likely raki, the anise-flavoured national drink of the Turks, sometimes referred to as 'lion's milk'.
The main course following the
meze spread will comprise of fish
or meat in the form of kebabs - a traditional cooking method from
around the Middle East. Sweet pastries such as
